Project Background
The client, a major auto parts logistics company, operates multiple logistics and transportation bases. Their business is divided into two main areas: Complete Vehicle Logistics and Parts Logistics. This project focused on the Parts Logistics Division, including a material temporary storage area, an inbound buffer zone, and an automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) interface. The objective was to implement VisionNav's automation solutions for automatic material handling, storage, and buffer zone inventory monitoring.
Solution
VisionNav provides a comprehensive solution, including:
VNP15 Autonomous Pallet Stacker: Efficient for material handling.
RCS (Robot Control System): Integrated with the client's WMS (Warehouse Management System) to synchronize equipment data with logistics information.
Smart Monitoring System: Ensures real-time inventory and slot management.
This solution enabled seamless autonomous material transport and real-time monitoring of buffer zone slots.
Workflow
Intelligent Slot Monitoring: The temporary storage area was set up with 64 slots, spaced 1.6 meters apart front to back and 200-300mm side to side. VisionNav installed an Smart Monitoring System to track inventory status and trigger tasks. The system alerts when loads are Improperly placed, ensuring correct positioning. It also enforces safety by alerting personnel or forklifts entering the control zone, preventing accidents.
Material Feeding Process: When materials are manually moved to the temporary storage area, the intelligent monitoring system detects inventory changes and triggers a feeding task. The VNP15 Autonomous Pallet Stacker is dispatched to pick up stacked boxes (three layers per stack) and transport them to the inbound buffer zone.
Storage Process: Upon completing the feeding task, the RCS updates buffer zone inventory information and integrates with the AS/RS conveyor system. When the conveyor detects the master pallet at the end, the RCS dispatches the VNP15 Autonomous Pallet Stacker to separate and store the materials. The forklift separates the stacked materials and transfers them to the AS/RS conveyor line, completing the storage process.
