Multiple Series of VisionNav’s Autonomous Forklifts With Visual+3D Laser Navigation Technology Complying to CE Standards!

VisionNav Robotics’ self-developed Slim, P, R, E-series autonomous forklifts with visual+3D laser navigation technology have obtained the CE safety certification after passing the strict Machinery Directive (MD) Test and the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) Test. The MD test adopts the latest EN ISO3691-4:2020 standard, a new standard for ensuring the safety of autonomous industrial vehicles and their systems.

The CE certificate is a ‘passport’ for manufacturers to enter the European market. It applies to twenty-seven members of the EU and four members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). CE Certificate contains more than twenty directive tests, a product must pass all relevant tests under specific directive test to obtain the CE certification.

EN ISO3691-4:2020 Standard examines more application scenarios and operation modes of AGVs, from risk assessment, risk analysis, and security system hardware architecture, to software security design, security function testing, and field testing. The newly added tests are mainly set up for securing autonomous industrial vehicles' safety and automation function. The detection process is leveled up from a single functional test to five, including design check, calculation, inspection (visual/audible), measurement, and functional tests. The new standard is more detailed and comprehensive compared to the old rule, which is also known as "the most comprehensive and strictest" safety standard in the history of EU assessment.

The new standard adopts performance level (PL), which is used to specify the discrete level of the safety-related components of the control system to perform safety functions under its conditions, and requires that the PL of the safety-related part of the control system must be higher than or equal to the required performance ( PLr). When the Slim, P, R, and E-Series take the instruction test, all safety functions can fully meet the required safety performance level. And some safety performance indicators such as accidental activation, overspeed detection, and load stability control have far exceeded the MD test standard, providing users high safety guarantee.

The autonomous forklifts with visual+3D laser navigation technology can tackle complex and large-scale logistics scenes. The multi-modal navigation based on vision and the 3D laser aims for a more flexible logistics process catering to user demand. In light of this navigation route, autonomous forklifts are no longer limited indoors and are endurable to the raw ground in outdoor working places. Thus, the AGVs can be applied to general indoor and outdoor logistics workflow, including climbing up and down slopes angled less than 15°, enabling a free switch between indoor and outdoor scenarios.

For common logistics scenarios, such as truck-tail loading and unloading at the platform, autonomous forklifts with vision + 3D laser navigation have seen improvement in supporting the loading and unloading of the platform to realize a complete workflow from unloading at the platform and then entering the warehouse indoor and vice versa. This process improves the continuity of AGVs workflow, thereby increasing operating efficiency from loading and unloading to production logistics.

Meanwhile, for the common sight such as dense and high stacking and dense and high material cages picking scenarios in the warehouse, VisionNav’s AGVs with vision + 3D laser navigation can adapt and support excellently, without concerns of external changes, further expanding the flexibility of autonomous logistics.
