The Apsara Conference 2020 themed by "Leap into the Future of Digital Intelligence" ends today. As a world's top technology event, Apsara Conference not only make waves in the technology and business world, but also bring forward people's expectations for technological innovations.

Apsara Conference is presented online this time, covering cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, quantum computing, chips, AIoT, organizational collaboration, new retail, new finance, digital government and other fields.

This year's Apsara Conference also creates hot words and new trends. "Industrial Brain 3.0" and "Visual Intelligence" are one of the highlights in this conference. Behind these innovated new hot words and new trends are the new technologies. 1,300 famous guests and 82 top scholars are invited to the Apsara Conference to introduce the logic behind technology for scientific and technological people worldwide.

As one of the invited guests, Professor Liu Yunhui, the co-founder and chairman of VisionNav Robotics, gave a speech on the theme of "Data Driven Robotics Research at CUHK". Professor Liu is an international expert in the field of robotics and control, the Director of the CUHK T Stone Robotics Institute, an IEEE Fellow, as well as a pioneer of visual servo control.

Relying on the development of big data and cloud computing technology, the research of robotics has received strong support, which is mainly reflected in four aspects: information collection, data processing, data usage and data maintenance. Professor Liu shared the achievements of mobile robots based on 5G communication technology in production and logistics, and detail introduced the innovative application in a 5G cloud warehouse by VisionNav Robotics, a leader in driverless industrial vehicles. With industry upgrades, industries are facing intelligentization and digitalization requirements. Professor Liu said that the development of 5G, as well as the integration of 5G with computer vision, deep learning and other technologies, will greatly empower the breadth and depth of driverless industrial vehicles applications.

The core R&D team of VisionNav Robotics has been established for more than 9 years, and has been focusing on combining visual information with robot motion to achieve breakthroughs for driverless industrial vehicles with two key technologies, namely visual servo control and visual environment perception. At present, VisionNav Robotics have developed five types of driverless industrial vehicles as standard products, industrial autonomous pallet forklifts, autonomous counterbalance trucks, autonomous reach trucks, autonomous tractors and autonomous heavy-load combustion trailers, helping to provide companies with cost-effective solution to achieve warehousing automation in entire process and multiple dimensions across logistics nodes.

5G‘s high speed transmission rate can transmit information collected by the vehicle-mounted camera of driverless industrial vehicles to the cloud in real time, use edge computing to extract and process image information, and then send back the calculation results to the vehicle for execution. With the help of 5G communication, it can quickly transforms rich visual information into efficient vehicle motion control capabilities in complex environments, and effectively organizes the core elements in the network in real time to build scenarios that are with relatively low communication delays and less uncertain motions, creating a strong foundation for the clustering collaboration of driverless industrial veCombining vision and 5G technology, VisionNav Robotics has already cooperated with many industry leading customers to implement key projects. It is believed that with the gradual penetration of the new communication technology in various industries, driverless industrial vehicles such as vision guided forklifts, vision guided tractors, and vision guided port cranes will become more "light-weight" and "flexible" for large-scale replication in short time.

This June VisionNav Robotics has just received a 100 million yuan B1 round of funding from Lenovo Ventures. Driverless industrial vehicle products from VisionNav Robotics has obtained the first CE certificate in China awarded by TÜV SÜD that is complied with 2006/42/ EC EU Machinery Directive and the latest international standard ISO 3691-4:2020, which shows the overall safety performance of the product reaching international level. So far there are more than 150 complicated scenarios implemented for many industry leading companies covering logistics, bonded, FMCG and other industries

Taking the opportunity of Apsara Conference 2020, VisionNav Robotics is looking forward to together witness the inexorable rise of vision guided vehicles empowering the automation in logistics and warehousing globally.
